Steviva began with a simple question:

Why is it so hard to reduce sugar without giving something up?

Taste. Trust. Transparency. One — or often all three — seemed to disappear the moment sugar left the recipe.

Our story starts with refusing to accept that compromise.

Where It All Started

Steviva was founded to solve a real, practical problem: how to help people reduce sugar using ingredients that actually work — in baking, beverages, and everyday life.

Long before "clean label" became a buzzword, we were focused on ingredient integrity, real functionality, and honest labeling. Not trends. Not shortcuts. Just better tools for sweetness.

From the beginning, Steviva set out to bridge the gap between food science and the home kitchen — bringing thoughtfully formulated sweeteners to people who care about what they eat, but still expect food to taste good.

The Founder

Steviva was founded by Thom King, food scientist founder, a food scientist and formulator with decades of experience working at the intersection of taste, nutrition, and ingredient performance.

Through years of hands-on formulation work, Thom saw the same pattern repeat itself: well-intentioned products that failed consumers — bitter aftertastes, digestive issues, confusing labels, or ingredients chosen more for marketing than performance.

Rather than accept those tradeoffs, he built Steviva around a different approach:

  • Start with ingredient science

  • Respect the consumer

  • Design sweeteners that behave predictably in real recipes

That philosophy still guides Steviva today.
